Chumba Casino is a social casino platform that operates on a sweepstakes model. It was launched in 2017 by VGW Holdings as a platform for players in the United States and Canada.
The platform uses a dual virtual currency system. Gold Coins are used for amusement-only gameplay, and Sweeps Coins are awarded through promotions and can be redeemed for cash prizes. I spent my first session on Chumba without really understanding the two balances. I had plenty of Gold Coins showing, so for a moment I assumed I was building something I could eventually cash out.
I was wrong about that.
Once I looked into it properly, I realised Gold Coins were basically for regular social play, while Sweeps Coins were the ones connected to redeemable prizes. After that, I paid much more attention to which mode I was actually using.
The games were easy enough to get into, although I felt the selection became a little repetitive after spending more time on the site.
Redemption was another learning curve. Before I could request prize money, I needed to verify my identity and banking information. I understand the security side, but uploading documents made cashing out feel much less convenient than simply playing.

I’m the kind of person who always reads user reviews, and I thought it only fair to return the compliment by putting together a Chumba Casino review.
Although I’d have preferred to be reviewing a proper casino, they’re not allowed in Texas, so my only choice is to go the sweepstakes casino route. Chumba was a name I’d heard mentioned quite a few times, so that’s why I ended up there.
I had no bother at all creating a new account and I soon had 2 million Gold Coins and 2 Sweeps Coins sitting in my account balance. Although I had the chance to buy a Gold Coin package at a great price, I thought the virtual tokens I already had were more than enough as there are only about 300 games on the site.
Chumba isn’t the greatest site to navigate, and it’s even more challenging on a small screen, but at least I could play the odd game or two on my mobile when I wanted. Most of the games are slots, but as that’s the main attraction for me, that was no problem.
Would I recommend Chumba Casino to other players? Maybe not, mainly because most other sweeps sites have tons more games, and more modern features. Been using Chumba Casino for around three months, mainly playing slots and collecting the daily Sweeps Coins. I also bought a few Gold Coin packages that came with bonus SC. The site itself was easy to use, but I paid more attention to the redemption side after putting some real money into it.

I was so confused by coins packages at first, but the site made it easy to get started. I understand how Chumba works.
I just do not particularly like how it feels.
Gold Coins, Sweeps Coins, purchases, redemptions. None of it is impossible to understand, but I found myself thinking about the currency system more than the actual games.
That ruins the casual feeling for me.
The slots themselves are fine and the site is fairly easy to navigate.
I also understand why people like being able to play without immediately treating it like a traditional casino.
For me though, I prefer knowing exactly what my balance represents without having to mentally switch between two currencies.
Maybe that is just personal preference.
I would not say Chumba is badly designed. In fact, PlayersRank’s earlier feedback includes users who found the system much easier once they understood it.
It just never became natural for me.
