I used PointsBet for around two months, mainly on AFL, NRL, NBA and NHL. The main thing I wanted to test was PointsBetting. It’s not like a normal bet where the payout is fixed. Your win or loss moves with the final margin, so it can get expensive fast when a game goes the wrong way.
Betting
I liked the NBA and AFL lines early on, and live betting was usually the better part of the platform. The Odds Factory system keeps markets moving fast, but I did find the app laggy at busy times. The Same Game Parlays and Bet Builder are useful, although I found some markets disappeared while building a bet.
Rewards
The points system is decent if you use parlays or PointsBetting. You get 1 point per $1 there, compared with $5 on fixed odds. 2,500 points gets you a $25 Bonus Bet, which is easy enough to understand.
My Main Issue
Limits are the thing I’d watch most. There are plenty of player reports of $300 bets being cut to $65 or accounts dropping to tiny limits after winning. That matters more to me than having loads of markets. PointsBet works well for normal betting, but I wouldn’t rely on it as my only book if I planned to bet bigger amounts.

I’ve spent some time using PointBet, mainly for sports betting, and my experience has been fairly mixed. The first thing I noticed was how clean the site feels.

Same Game Multis were much more my style. If I was already planning to watch a match, I could put together a few selections based on how I thought the game would play out. It made watching the event more interesting without having several completely unrelated bets running at once.
I also became more careful with my balance. Instead of betting on something just because it was available, I started keeping money aside for matches I actually knew something about. That simple change made my sessions feel much more controlled.
I took the same approach with withdrawals. I made sure my verification was sorted early because I didn’t want to deal with account checks when I already had money waiting to come out. I’d also make sure any turnover requirements were cleared before requesting a withdrawal.
The first cash-out is something I’d give a little extra time. Later withdrawals may be quicker when everything is already verified, but I still wouldn’t assume every payment will appear in my bank immediately.

What appeals to me about PointsBet is that it doesn’t feel like it was built only around football.
I tend to like sportsbooks where I can move between different sports without one section feeling completely forgotten. That matters if you follow more than one league because otherwise you end up opening several different betting apps just to compare what is available.
The layout is fairly conventional, which isn’t a bad thing. I didn’t see much reason for a sportsbook to reinvent the wheel here. Once you understand how the markets are organised, everything makes sense.
I think the biggest reason I would keep PointsBet around would be comparison. Even when I already have another sportsbook I like, it is useful to see whether the same event is priced differently elsewhere or whether another market is available.
I wouldn’t necessarily make it my only betting platform, but that isn’t really how I use sportsbooks anyway. Having two or three options usually makes more sense.
Overall, PointsBet feels perfectly usable and worth looking at if you bet across several different sports rather than sticking to just one.

My time under new management
I was a PointsBet loyalist long before any of this happened, so this review is really about watching a platform I liked get absorbed into something else.
Registration and Account Verification
I didn’t have to re-register at all, which impressed me. My account, balance, rewards points, and even my responsible gaming settings all carried over automatically once my state was migrated.
Deposits and Cashing Out
Funding worked the same as always.
Casino Games and Sportsbook
That’s the point when things really improved. After the change to the full Fanatics platform, betting odds got updated in a much shorter time, and the same-game parlay builder also seemed more responsive to me. Probably due to the quant trading technology that Fanatics got, and it is still running in the background.
Promotions and Exclusive Offers
Any promo offers I was using before the transition were automatically continued, which I found great. After the migration, the whole setup was focused on FanCash, which I found a bit strange at first, as I had been using PointsBet’s rewards system for years.
Dealing with Customer Service
I only reached out once, right during the transition, half expecting chaos. It was fine; they clearly had a system in place for migration-related questions.
Features I Liked Most
Just how smooth the actual migration was. I’ve seen platforms get acquired before and usually lose data or make you jump through hoops. This one just quietly happened in the background.
Would I Recommend It to New Users?
There’s not really a “PointsBet” to recommend anymore; it’s Fanatics now in every state that matters. If you were a fan of the original, know that the brand is gone, but much of what made it work was folded into its replacement.
