The World Series of Poker began in 1970 at Binion’s Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas. It was founded by casino owner Benny Binion. The event has since grown into a global series where players compete in No-Limit Texas Hold’em and Omaha poker for gold bracelets, which are awarded to the winner of each event. In August 2024, the WSOP brand was acquired by NSUS Group, the parent company of GGPoker. WSOP’s official online events are hosted on the GGPoker platform.
I didn’t really get into WSOP Online until I switched from random cash tables to tournaments. I started with smaller ones to avoid burning through my bankroll while learning, then tried a few satellites. I liked the chance to work toward bigger events without paying the full entry right away. Tournaments also made me more patient with my stack instead of feeling like I had to play every hand.
The software took some getting used to and isn’t the most modern-looking platform I’ve played on. Once I settled in, though, finding the right tournament mattered more to me than how the lobby looked.
